Brian Marki Fine Art was established in Portland Oregon's Historic Irvington District in 1994.
After 20 years in this location, Marki opened his second gallery in Palm Springs CA.
Both galleries are European-inspired, while reflecting the cultures and climates of their respective locations. Both exhibit local, national and international artists, and specialize in contemporary fine art in all mediums, featuring painting, sculpture, photography, glass and fine art prints.
The galleries also provide museum-quality framing, art placement and consulting for your home or business.
In selecting work for the gallery, BMFA looks for a quality that is rooted in history, acknowledges the present but has an eye toward the future – work that lives well in the continuum of art making.
BMFA exhibits art that is inviting and meant to be lived with.
The Man behind the Gallery
Marki began his art career in his teens as an artist's apprentice, learning not only how to make art, but also the craft of designing and building frames from the artist's perspective.
He continued his studies in art at California College of Arts and Crafts (CCAC) where he studied printmaking, painting, wood, design and gallery management.
He never stopped framing work for artists, and opened his first frame shop in Oakland, California after graduation from CCAC in 1984. The shop still exists today and is run by the partner who helped establish it.
Marki moved to Portland in 1992 and began splitting his time between Portland and Palm Springs in 2010. His vision for the future of both galleries includes collaborative efforts with visual artists, musicians and writers.
