Vermont Artist John Brickels has been creating stoneware clay sculptures for over 30 years. His ceramic art ranges from architecturally themed sculptures to machines, life size robots and vintage pedal car bodies retrofitted with ceramic mechanicals. His work is created from slab and extruded stoneware clay.
He has exhibited with the Smithsonian Institute and has garnered national attention with features in Ceramic Monthly Magazine and Hemming’s Classic Car Magazine. His work has also been exhibited at the Springfield Museums, Springfield, MA; at the Shelburne Museum, Shelburne, VT; and permanent sculpture installations commissioned by the state of Vermont.
He has also earned 1st Place Artist Awards at both the South End Art Hop, 2012 and at the “Arts Alive”, 2008.
John Brickels' work has been presented to Queen Elizabeth, President George W. Bush, Pope John Paul II and King Juan Carlos of Spain.
